Jayme's July Photos: Days 16-31

I'm pretty sure that I can't top Mendi's self portrait from her July Photo-a-Day as seen here, but I can certainly try! This month was really fun for me because days 16-21 were all taken while I was away on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Hope you enjoy!!

day 16 -- sign
This was the "Do Not Disturb" sign at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana. Words from The King!

day 17 -- your addiction
Giant jacuzzi tub, LUSH bubble bars and Coca Cola light...does it get any better??

day 18 -- plate
Nachos by the pool. Seriously, I rarely eat nachos but while on vacay I ate them EVERY SINGLE DAY!

day 19 -- animal/insect/pet
Our sweet room attendant left us this bird/snake he created with a bath towel and hibiscus leaves. We got this twice while we were there. So pretty that I had to take a picture of it and not the giant bugs we found in our room a couple of times!

day 20 -- eyes
Wes's tired eyes. Poor baby!

day 21 -- 9 o'clock
This was taken in the airport in Philadelphia. Our flight home to Richmond was at 9:10 pm so I thought that would work as my photo.

day 22 -- upside down
Wes said that this wasn't a very creative photo. But this box of crackers was actually just chilling upside down on the counter so at least it was a true photo even if it is boring. BTW, I love these crackers either by themselves or with some hummus.

day 23 -- mirror
Just a quick snap of one of my current favorite palettes (Smashbox Shades of Fame). I took the plastic off of this mirror just to snap this photo. :-)

day 24 -- stranger

day 25 -- heart
I am someone who likes pictures, etc on my fridge. This is one photo with two magnets that I totally "heart". I think this was the only time they have ever shared a dog bed. :-)

day 26 -- sunshine
Totally missed snapping a picture of the sunshine so this is me improvising. At least it's a sun.

day 27 -- on the road

day 28 -- cup
Classy or not, it's the perfect cup for my morning protein shake. And the black and yellow are VCU colors so we're supporting our local college.

day 29 -- last thing you bought
Groceries! Specifically a mess load of fruit! This pineapple has been so good!

day 30 -- calm
One of my pieces of wall art in my kitchen. Just a reminder to relax.

day 31 -- toothbrush
His and hers toothbrushes...how gross romantic. I promise that they are not touching in this photo.

Hope you enjoyed our last installment of the July Photo-a-Day challenge. Let us know if you have been participating too! And now on to August, which is one of the best months ever. Why you ask? It's my birthday month!! :-)

Popular Polishes In A City Near You...

Before we launch into today's post I just wanted to wish Mendi a very Happy Birthday!! I hope it's the best day ever!! Can't wait to celebrate this weekend!

Recently, we were scrolling through the August issue of allure (on stands now) and came across a blurb about nail polish colors across the country. Basically, the magazine contacted several polish brands and asked them what their best-selling shades were in a few select cities. You guys know how we feel about nail polish, so we were intrigued. This is what they said...

New York City - Essie Mademoiselle

Miami - China Glaze Pink Voltage

Chicago - SpaRitual I Feel the Earth Move
SpaRitual Nail Lacquer 0.5 fl oz.

Minneapolis - Duri Mud Slide

Houston - Orly Terracotta
Orly Nail Lacquer Terracotta

Seattle - Zoya Kristen

Los Angeles - Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color - Mint Sorbet.Opens in a new window

What do you guys think?? Do you believe that polish shades are a regional thing? If you are from one of the cities mentioned above, we'd love to know if you've seen allure's polish pick trending in your town. Or if you're city isn't on the list, let us know if you have noticed a popular color popping up where you live.

Love it or Leave it...Sultra Color Hair Mascara

It's been awhile since our last "Love it or Leave it" (post seen here) so we are back today with our latest find. Just a couple of weeks ago we posted about "2012 Summer Hair Trends" and one trend that got some attention was the "dip dye". Most of you that commented said that while it looks cool, that you wouldn't really be into doing that to your own hair. But here we have a product that provides a little fun without the commitment... Sephora now has the exclusive Sultra Color Hair Mascara in 4 fabulous shades.

Sultra - Color Hair Mascara

Sultra - Color Hair Mascara

Sultra - Color Hair Mascara

Sultra - Color Hair Mascara

What Sephora says...

What it is: An advanced, lightweight color hair mascara.

What it does: Available in a range of sexy shades, this temporary hair color has the staying power of up to two days. Easy to apply, color washes out easily with shampoo.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens - Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

What else you need to know: Designed for any hair type, color, or length, Sultra Hair Palette Color Hair Mascaras are ideal for anyone who wants to add a fun pop of color to any hairstyle.

Retails USD: $24.00

So, what do you guys think? Fun or too teeny bopper-ish? Something fresh and flirty? We think this is a fun and non-stressful way to participate in the trend. If you don't like it, all you have to do is wash it out and if you do like it, then it's as easy as applying the mascara.

We hope you'll drop us a comment and let us know your thoughts! It's always so much fun reading what you think on our "Love it or Leave it" posts!

Have a great day!

Friday's Fancies: Euro Trip

When dreaming of our perfect European vacations, we like to imagine what cities we'd stop in, the sights we'd make sure to see, the cafes that we'd visit along the way and the memories that would be etched in our mind for the rest of time. While the lucky {av} and her hubz are galivanting across France, Switzerland and Germany, she's tasked us with planning out our travel outfits for our very own Euro trip. So today's Friday's Fancies features our ensembles for four European stops along our desired route...after all, these dreams are not a matter of "if" they'll happen, only a matter of "when." And they can't come true soon enough.

Mendi's July Photos: Days 1-15

Here we go...another half a month down and it's time for me to catch you guys up on what I've been up to for the past couple of weeks! Be forewarned, I was all over the place this month and had days where the heat must've fried my brain because I completely missed snapping pics. It's my birthday month, so I think I get a free pass. Next month I'll have no excuse.

day 1 -- self portrait
If y'all saw my hair when I first wake up in the morning (before it sees a flat iron), then you'd know that Disney used my likeness for this character. Fo' sho.

day 2 -- busy
This is what I like to call a cluster. It's where I can be found during business hours Monday-Friday.

day 3 -- best part of your day
Eating. Anything. This girl loves food.

day 4 -- fun
Obvi I didn't take a picture. PHOTO FAIL.
I don't even remember what we did on the 4th of July. Is that sad?!? I'm pretty sure I slept on and off until around 1pm (because that's a perfectly good way to spend a Wednesday off, if you ask me) and then went to dinner with the hubz. We saw fireworks during Memorial Day weekend, so that wasn't real high on the priority list for the 4th. Plus, I'm pretty sure it was like 102 degrees outside.

day 5 -- on the floor
Keeping my MK's planted safely on the ground. And that's my new maxi skirt from Target. God bless maxi skirts. I think I'm in love.

day 6 -- chair
I got nothin'. HUGE FAIL. I apparently have no interesting chairs in my life.

day 7 -- garden
Are these not the cutest little strawberries you've ever seen?!? They're from our "garden"...aka: our one lonely strawberry plant. We can't say that we get much enjoyment from it, but it's keeping the squirrels in our backyard nice and fat.

day 8 -- lunch
Leftovers of Salt & Pepper Prawns from PF Chang's. I die. So delish. Ever had it?? You need to.

day 9 -- big
I. Like. Big. Bags. And I can not lie.

day 10 -- your favorite color
Anything neon. Has anyone tried these new Revlon polishes? The white color is to be used as your base coat to make the yellow color "pop" even more. I can't wait to try it.

day 11 -- letter
I don't even remember this day taking place. NEXT...

day 12 -- texture
necklace: Forever21; shirt: Target; split ends: mine

day 13 -- open
As in OPEN my big ol' mouf and stuff it with a Firehouse sub. Our go to post-workout meal on Friday nights. Carb reload.

day 14 -- building
We spent the afternoon over at my parent's house hanging out with them and my nephews who are here visiting from North Carolina for the rest of the month. This is the house that I grew up in. So many amazing memories within those walls.

day 15 -- finger
Or fingers if you will. This polish is China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy. It's about 135% brighter in real life. Like put-your-eyes-out bright. Love.

OK, so that concludes my July Photo-a-Day snapshots...hope you guys enjoyed the randomness! Jayme is sunning it up on a beach in the Dominican right now (I won't call her bad names here on the blog, but rest assured that I'm doing plenty of that under my breath...kidding...not really...love you, J). Let's hope that somewhere between drinking pina coladas and reapplying sunscreen that she's remembering to snap her July Photo-a-Day pics for the second half of the month. ;-)

What has the first half of your July looked like?? Do tell.
