Face Off! Exfoliators

It's a given that throughout the year us girls need to exfoliate our bodies, but most importantly our faces.  And as we head into the colder months of winter it's an even more important step in our skin regimen that does not need to be overlooked.  Adding a facial scrub into your weekly routine will help you achieve a more healthy and radiant complexion...and who doesn't want that?  The little beads slough away dead skin cells and aids in brightening and softening your skin.  And with the dead skin removed (that sounds so gross) it allows your moisturizer or serum to absorb into your skin and ultimately be more effective. We believe in moisturizing and taking care of your skin, so if there is an easy way to make the most of your products then why not do so?

Since we have fairly normal skin, we exfoliate once or twice a week.  If you have sensitive skin then we'd say only exfoliate once per week or contact your dermatologist to find out how often is appropriate for your skin type.  Those with oilier skin may be able to exfoliate on a more daily basis, but we'd recommend checking in with your derm.

The key is to find a facial scrub that is not too abrasive and then follow the directions.  We use ours while in the shower, after the warm water has been on for a bit.  We take a little and gently massage it onto our face in a circular motion, let it stay on for a minute or so and then rinse.  Follow up with your go to skincare products.

You know us, we are always ready to try new products and actually Mendi has been using a sample size of the Clinique 7 Day, so she will soon want to branch out and test a new scrub.  We've heard great reviews about the Origins Modern Friction (and you know that we love Origins products) so maybe it will be next on the list.

Beauty Battle - "Get A Leg Up"

As we've mentioned in past Beauty Battles, the purpose of these videos is for each of us to try out the same product, then keep our opinions to ourselves until we can share our thoughts with each other while the camera is rolling.  This Beauty Battle features the Sally Hansen Brush-On In-Shower Hair Remover Creme...yes, we "go" there (hahaha)...

Hope you guys see the humor in this video.  We were definitely putting ourselves (or our legs) out there a little on this one, but hey, these are the things we do in the name of beauty.

Have a suggestion for us for our next Beauty Battle??  Drop us a comment!

Get Your Fashion Fix: bevello

Today we have a really great secret to share with you guys...  We're always on the hunt for new places to get our fix on the latest fashion trends and one such place that fits the bill is a little boutique called bevello (intentionally spelled with a lower case "b", the name bevello is derived from "bella," the Italian word for "beautiful," mixed with a little "love."  Mendi first discovered bevello on a trip to Charlotte, NC to visit her sister, Shelley.  Now anytime a trip to Charlotte to see family is in the works, then you know a trip to bevello is also going down.  Just take a look at how gorgeous this store is from the outside...

There are a total of 12 bevello boutique locations in North Carolina and Virginia and we are beyond thrilled that we now have our very own bevello boutique here in Richmond at Short Pump Town Center...

But we know that most of you guys obviously don't live in North Carolina or Virginia, so don't think that we're just teasing you with this amazing shopping goldmine...bevello just launched their online store (*insert applause here*), so feel free to hit them up at www.bevello.com.  Here are some of our favorite things...

hello miss 3/4 Sleeved Belted Dress

So, if you have a chance, check out bevello's new website and do a little shopping if you find something you're craving.  We're in no way being sponsored by or are affiliated with bevello...we just really love shopping here and we like to turn you guys onto something new any chance we get.  Most up-and-coming boutiques launch in big cities like New York or Los Angeles and the most that we can often hope for is that they come as close to us as maybe Washington, DC, but here we have a little boutique that started in our neighbor to the south, North Carolina, but that is expanding and growing at a phenomenal speed.  We'll be doing our part to help bevello succeed and we hope you guys enjoy checking them out too!
