I saw this little Christmas questionnaire/TAG on my friend Shannon's blog (
The Creation of Beauty is Art) and thought I'd join in the fun. She and I share a great love for Christmas and the holiday season. I wish the feeling I get the month of December could stay with me all year round. I need to work on that. There is just something about the "
magic" of this time of year.
1) What is your favorite winter/Christmas scent?
I would have to say any scent of holiday candle sold at
Bath & Body Works. I'm obsessed! I do especially love the 'Tis The Season candle which is a mix of apples, cinnamon, cloves and deep green pine. Oh and I also love Marshmallow Fireside which is toasted marshmallows, vanilla cream and rich smoldering woods.
2) What is your favorite winter drink?
This is where I admit that I'm a huge weirdo and I don't drink hot drinks. No hot tea, coffee blends from Starbucks and no hot chocolate. Total weirdo!! Most of you know that I love the bubbly but there's something about it this time of year that makes be crave it even more (in moderation of course!). But I love to have a glass and add either raspberries or pomegranate seeds. It makes it so much more festive!
3) What is your favorite item of clothing to wear in the winter/near Christmas?
Anything cozy! Slippers, jammies, soft sweaters, faux fur, plaid, stocking hats, UGGS, scarves...OK pretty much anything that keeps me warm! And I have a few sweaters that are holiday themed that I do love. I just love fall/winter clothing so much more than spring/summer clothing.
4) Favorite Christmas song?
Well I just love "O Holy Night". If done right, I'll cry. And I love "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey and "This Christmas" by Donny Hathaway.
5) Favorite Christmas movie?
This should be its own post! Confession time...I need a 12-step program when it comes to Christmas movies. I am ridiculous and I just love it!
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a classic and a must every year!
Elf, The Holiday, A Christmas Story, Four Christmas's, Love Actually and so many more! And don't get me started on The Hallmark Channel, Lifetime and ABC Family. I love all of their original movies that are light hearted and fun (not the sad ones!). And yes they can be cheesy but isn't that the point? I like to watch movies that leave a silly grin on my face.
6) Are you on the naughty or nice list this year?
I'd say nice all the way however my husband, Wes, might disagree! HAHA!
7) Where do you usually spend Christmas?
My family always gets together on Christmas Eve. There can be up to 20 of us and it's loud and crazy and totally normal. :-) My mom always hosts and there is never lack of food. She goes all out! And then on Christmas we go to see Wes's family at lunch for a couple of hours. The best part is that we get to be together for most of Christmas day. Just us and our fur babies (Barkley & Jade - my heart!)
8) Where do you wish you could spend Christmas?
I have always thought it would be so cool to spend Christmas someplace where you are guaranteed snow. Or I go in the opposite direction and say a tropical destination. But really I probably couldn't leave my mom. Of course I
could get my parents to come with us. :-)
9) What is your favorite part of a Christmas dinner?
Well this year it's going to be Thanksgiving dinner for Christmas. That's my favorite meal and this year my mom had pneumonia so Thanksgiving was postponed. Now I get my mom's turkey dinner at Christmas...doesn't get much better than that!
10) What is your favorite thing about Christmas?
The feeling I get inside...I can't really describe it. Life just seems better, happier, lighter and for one month I try and forget some of life's heavier situations that may be going on. And the lights...the twinkle lights, the holiday music, movies, shopping, getting together with friends. I just love everything there is to do with Christmas!
This was so much fun! If you haven't done this yet on your blog, then I invite you too and please let me know as I'd love to pop over and read yours. And if you don't have a blog, please leave some of your answers in the comments. I'd love to know some about some of your traditions!
