Man Style...Suit Him Up!

We decided that we didn't want to neglect all of the males that we KNOW read our blog.  HAHA!  Seriously though, we talk about women's fashion and trends, but we rarely mention men's fashion.  And lets be honest, there are so many male celebrities that can dress...and boy do they look good!

Take the suit for example...some men are just made to wear suits.  When we think of someone in the public eye that can not only wear but WEAR a suit it has to be the handsome (and talented) Mr. David Beckham.

We love David's style (like how we call him by his first name like we know him?).  We have all come to know and love him as a man who is not afraid of fashion and who goes for it, whether it's in a suit or in more casual attire.  On the casual side, he pushes the envelope and wears whatever he chooses -- from matching his outfit to Victoria's outfit to scarves and bracelets to sweater vests.  But on the more formal side of dress...what can we say...boyfriend can rock a suit!

This is obviously an older picture, but there's something about the fact that he is a soccer player and wears a uniform on the field, but can switch gears and put on a suit and look so dashing.  From sweaty to suity!  Clean lines and a pop of color with the red tie.  We likey!

via

We love how David takes something as "boring" as a tuxedo (we say boring because around where we live if you have to wear a tuxedo no one really strays from the classic version and sometimes straying is good in terms of fashion) and adds his own flavor.  Totally blacked out with no tie and unbuttoned...perfection!

via

And here he is at the ever so formal Royal wedding.  Doesn't he look like a handsome character from an Emily Dickinson novel?  He's classic and dare we say elegant?  And while he is a risk taker with fashion, David kept it very regal for the wedding.  He wasn't going to be on anyone's "Worst Dressed List".

David Beckham (L) and British designer Victoria Beckham
via

We salute David on his fearlessness when it comes to fashion and his flawlessness when wearing a suit.  Maybe more men should take a page out of his book!

What do you guys think?  Flawless or overdone?  As you can tell we think he is a fine representation of formal menswear.

Dillard's 'The Edge Beauty' Haul

I made a trip into my local Dillard's store recently to check out their shoes.  I'm completely obsessed with having new boots for the fall...the sooner, the better.  But, there's one thing that can distract me from shopping for boots...  Makeup.  Shocker, I know.  In the name of the blog (of course) I had to pick up a couple of things.

Have you guys heard of this??

Dillard's has launched a new beauty department within their cosmetics area.  Here's what they have to say about it:
EDGE Beauty, exclusively at Dillard's, is a specialty cosmetics shop right in our store featuring hard-to-find favorites, hot new names, cutting edge treatments and exciting beauty tools that are on everyone's lips! EDGE Beauty promises a unique shopping experience encouraging customers to browse, play, learn and discover the newest products in an engaging, interactive setting.
Do you have a Dillard's near you??  If so, it's definitely worth checking out.

Love it or Leave it...Violent Lips

We dare ask...would you go violent in the name of beauty??  No, not the kind of violent that's going to end up with you on the 11:00 news.  (We definitely don't want that to happen.)  We're actually referring to a line of temporary lip tattoos now carried at Sephora and Ulta called:

Violent Lips

Have you seen these things??  They're wild.  They come in a variety of colors and patterns, including polka dot, animal print, rainbow and even an American flag if you're feeling super patriotic.  You can check out the wide array of options at the Violent Lips website here or you can stick to the five glitter shades that Sephora has available here.  Ulta also has a few options available at the checkout counters. Take a look...

The Pink PolkaThe Red Cheetah
The RainbowThe American Flag
The Pink GlitterattiThe Gold Glitteratti

What's your verdict??  Definitely interested and excited to try?  Or curious but leaving it to the more adventurous?  We're are not sure about these for everyday wear but Halloween is right around the corner and they could be a great addition to your costume. We'd love to hear what you think.

POTM...October Edition

In August we launched our Polish Of The Month post and we are back to show what we have picked for this month.

October Polish Of The Month

Jayme's Pick - Illamasqua's Vice

A deep cerise, rubber finish. This gorgeous wine colored polish is perfect for fall.
You can either leave it more of a matte or make it glossy like I did by adding a gloss top coat.

Mendi's Pick - butter LONDON's Wallis

A tarnished, metallic olive gold, as mysterious and regal as its namesake.
**Such a majorly hot shade for the fall, that it's actually sold out right now on butter LONDON's website, but you might have some luck finding it in your local Ulta or Dillard's**

So what do you guys think?  What is your go to polish of the month??  Drop us a comment to let us know.

Football Funday Vlog

One of our favorite things about this time of year is football.  Saturdays are spent rooting on our favorite college teams and Sundays are for getting cozy on the couch to watch some NFL.  Jayme and her hubz, Wes, even play on a co-ed social football team here in Richmond.  So when we were offered tickets to the University of Virginia homecoming game versus Georgia Tech, we were all over it!  We thought it might be fun for you guys to come along with us to see what it's like.  It couldn't have been a better game...Georgia Tech was undefeated, but the University of Virginia pulled out a 24-21 win!  Students and fans stormed the field at the end of the game and we were able to get it all on film.  It was such an exciting moment!

We hope that you enjoy watching a little something different from us every once in awhile.  We'll take you along on these little outings whenever we get the chance.

Thanks for watching!

No Cramping Her Style: Nina Dobrev

By now you guys all know how we feel about one of our favorite TV shows, The Vampire Diaries...so it should not surprise you that we are featuring one of the female stars from the cast...the beautiful Nina Dobrev!  We adore Nina on and off the screen and she is currently one of our favorite fall style icons.  Why you ask??  Because this girl can rock a mean hat!  And hats are a great go-to fall (and winter) accessory.  It's such an easy way to accent your outfit with a little color and/or flavor.

This gorgeous wine colored cloche hat just makes her outfit.  It's effortless and so chic!  We love this classic hat paired up with a black leather jacket and boots.

The cabbie hat or newsboy cap is a definite must-have.  No muss, no fuss.  And it can work with so many different outfit choices.  Hair down or hair up, this hat just works.

via

The fedora...need we say more?  This is a hat of all seasons.  Doesn't get any easier than the fedora and we love Nina's tan with black ribbon.

Skinny jeans, a black tank, jewels and a maroon knit slouchy hat...perfection!  Nina can pull off this hat like no other.  We love the simple, yet sexy outfit mixed with the colorful and casual knit of the hat.

Mustard yellow chunky knit goodness!  Bet you've never seen that in a sentence before!  :-)  So cute with the black wool pleated pea coat.  Perfect for the cool nights of fall leading into the even colder days of winter.
As we've mentioned time and time again, we really do love this time of year and we think hats are a key piece for your fall wardrobe.  Thanks to Nina for being the perfect model!  Seriously, can she be any cuter??  And you know we couldn't show Nina without showing her handsome sidekicks Ian Somerholder and Paul Wesley.  Lucky, lucky girl.  **Sigh....**

And because we love Nina's style so much, we couldn't resist showing one last photo of her (sans hat) from the Emmy's in a stunning red gown by Donna Karan.  Gorgeous!!
via

There's definitely no cramping this girl's style!  So what do you think?  Are you guys into hats?  We kind of want to run out and buy a few right now!

Love It or Leave it...Watt's Up??

As lovers of Benefit products, we know that it's only a matter of time before this ends up in our posession, but we want to know if you guys would grab this for your makeup arsenal or pass it by.  Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who have already snagged this new product!  If so, we're dying to hear what you think!!

Here's what Sephora's website has to say about Benefit's Watt's Up, a soft focus highlighter for the face:

watt's up!
What it does:
This cream-to-powder highlighter turns up the wattage with a delicate, gorgeous champagne glow.  Its smooth application and luminous sheen switches on the "wow" factor for any complexion.  Apply it to cheeks and brow bones, then sculpt with the soft-glow blender for your perfect gleam.
Price = $30.00

We've tried Benefit's other highlighter products, High Beam and Girl Meets Pearl, so we figure that we'll give this one a go too. Drop us a comment to let us know what you think...love it or leave it??

Making the Grade: Jacket Trends

The summer has run its course and we're fully appreciating all that fall has to offer.  From chunky sweaters and flannel shirts to corduroys and wool skirts to little leather jackets and scarves for miles...there are many reasons why this is our favorite time of year.  But our poor closets are suffering from a full blown identity crisis as we confuse it by rotating out our spring and summer wardrobe to make room for all of fall's fashion staples.

One such staple, is a lightweight jacket that's perfect for wearing in this transitional weather before the winter hits us hard. This season's trends point towards pops of color, a little faux-fur or shearling trim and ruffle accents.  We've taken the guesswork out of shopping for you and pulled some of our favorites found on the web...
