To Buy Or Not to Buy: Clarisonic Products

Normally on the blog, we are showing you guys the latest and greatest but today is a little different. We want to ask your opinions on the Clarisonic products.

Do you guys own one? Which do you own?
What has it done for your skin?

We both have normal to dry skin (so we don't fight being oily) and we both have small pores (so we aren't looking to minimize pores). We have always assumed that these tools are better suited for those with oily skin. You know what they say about people that assume too much... :-) Recently, Jayme has been toying with the idea of purchasing one but wants to get as many opinions as possible before shelling out the dough.

Clarisonic Mia - Seems to be the base model and is the most affordable coming in around $119
Clarisonic Mia is available in multiple colors

Clarisonic Mia 2 - $149
Wild Waves Mia 2

Clarisonic Aria - $199

Clarisonic Aria in a sleek, new design

Clarisonic PLUS = $225-$235
Clarisonic PLUS, Charger, Face & Body Brush Heads, Cleansers

So lay it on us. What's your opinion? Is this a beauty must-have or not worth it? Do you use this on your body as well? Where are the best deals? We appreciate any and all feedback!
Hope you are having a great day!

  1. I've been on the fence about getting one too! They're definitely pricy but I've even heard they can increase the wear time on your makeup every day??? I don't know, that's a pretty big claim!

  2. I love mine but I forget the name of it. It has 3 settings just like most of them and comes with 3 brushes (sensitive face, regular face, and body) but I found a deal on groupon for it. I ended up paying like $40 and I have had it for over a year now. I love it!!

  3. Hey girls!

Hmmm...well, I have an older model. Even older than the Mia that I no longer use b/c my skin has gotten drier over the years and it was just too much on my skin. Given your normal to dry skin and small pores, my opinion is that you don't need it. Wouldn't want it potentially aggravating your skin, ya know? But if you do decide to get it, I would limit its use to maybe twice a week.

    Just my 2 cents! :)

  4. I haven't tried any of these tools but they all seem great. Don't know which one to purchase.

  5. I JUST BOUGHT ONE LAST WEEK! So after working in cosmetics for YEARS and selling these things, I finally caved and bought one. My face is already feeling different. First, exfoliation is a crucial step when it comes to skin care, and this is such a gentle way to do it. Those pictures they show (with a black light, I think?) with all the leftover makeup settled in pores and fine lines even after you wash your face with your hands are what really sold it for me. An awesome bonus is the fact that all the other products that you use (serums, moisturizers, etc) work *better* after you use the Clarisonic because they are able to be absorbed more effectively thanks to the junk being removed first. I am really happy that I bought mine. I ended up ordering from QVC because they had a special that came with a Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (one of my FAV products EVER!) and a full sized Fresh cleanser. Oh and mine is a Mia2. The main differences between the Mia and the Mia2 is that the first one only has one speed and a 1 yr warranty. The Mia2 comes with 2 speeds (just a matter of preference as far as which speed you use)and a 2 year warranty PLUS a travel case. The Aria is the deluxe version that has a drying stand as well as 3 speeds, a USB charger option and a battery life indicator. I think the Mia 2 is a perfect "entry" to Clarisonic :) Oh and if you do take the plunge and start using, beware- your face will have a slight "purge" from all the stuff that is being extracted from your face. I've been breaking out ***very*** slightly this week since I started using mine. Nothing crazy, but a bit more than my norm, ya know? :)

  6. I have one and it can irritate my skin at times. I don't use it much.

  7. I love mine so much! I use it all the time and it works amazing to get makeup off and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and cleaner than it's ever felt when just washing it with my hands. I say that this is definitely a must have!

  8. I used my Birchbox points + a coupon code and got my Clarisonic Mia for $40.00. I don't have oily skin, but I do have somewhat large pores. I love how smooth my skin feels when I use it! Also, when I look at the brush head, I can see the oil/makeup the brush gets off that my makeups remover wipe missed. I have not noticed a difference in pore size though :( Other than my skin feeling smooth right after I use it, I'm not sure how much it has really improved my skin. I am only in my 20's, so I guess I am hoping that it will help me age gracefully :) I wouldn't pay $119 for the Mia 2.... use your BB points or wait for them to send out a 25% off coupon

  9. I purchased the Mia a few months ago after debating about getting once since forever. A friend of mine convinced me to finally make the purchase. My skin does feel and look better after using it, and you can use any kind of cleanser or scrub with it. If you want to use it on your body just buy a separate brush- don't bother with the larger one, or different speeds. I dont think it'll make a huge difference anyway. I have oily skin and some acne around that time of the month, so I was looking for something that would help. It's definitely a splurge! But if your skin is fine, maybe just get a really nice scrub instead :)

  10. Hi lovelies, I havent personally tried this product range, but I have heard really great things. If it were available here, I would definitely try it out. Love the pastel shaded ones. Please do a review if you end up getting it. Thanks for your kind visit, hope your week is going well :)

  11. I purchased a Mia 2 about 6 months ago and I use it once every day. I don't have oily skin but not too dry either. I love it. My face is softer and if I don't use it one day I notice a difference in how my face feels. My makeup goes on smoother too. I guess that has to do with my face being smoother. I buy replacement brushes through Amazon. One brush head for $9 and no shipping is a lot cheaper than 2 for $40.

  12. i think i just have the regular mia- although it could be the mia 2 (not sure what the differences are?)... i have normal to dry skin as well and I do find that my skin definitely feels more soft and i know it cleans it better than just facewash/cloths.

i just recommend not using it every day if you're worried about it drying your skin out- and picking the right facewash is important as well (you can use any kind of cleanser). i do think it's worth the $100- though i wouldnt pay any more to get the "better versions".

  13. i have the mia and also have dry skin. i use it in the shower, so only in the a.m. my dermatologist says she definitely notices healthier skin and that's all the convincing i need :) definitely worth it!

  14. I have an original Mia and have had it for a while. Like both of you it took me a long time to decide to get one and to figure out brush heads worked best for me. Ultimately what threw me over the edge was when I went into Nordstrom one day just to check out what colors of the Clarisonic they had and the guy offered to do a demo of the Clarisonic on my hand. After he did I actually noticed a considerable difference between my two hands and even on my friends noticed the difference. You might want to do that if you are on the fence just to see if you can see a difference.

  15. I have a Mia, and I go in and out of phases of loving it and then forgetting about it... which is normally when I run out of brush heads! (keep in mind that you end up paying about $10 every month on brush heads, it's not just a one time investment!). I really do think that the Clarisonic helps my skin look more radiant and reduces pore size. I like using it at night, since this really does remove every last trace of makeup!
And you could always buy it from Sephora, and return within 30 days if you don't like it/don't see an improvement in your skin!

  16. I have a Mia and I heard about the dreaded "purge" period that a lot of people get when they first start using it since your skin is purging all the crap underneath your skin. But my purge never went away.. My skin felt much smoother but looked a lot worse. So I stopped using it and it's just sitting under my sink collecting dust much to my husband's dismay after I spent over $100 on it :-P

But.. I've heard a lot of people swear by theirs!

  18. my sister got me a clarisonic and i think it's a good product to have. it really cleans my skin and i feel like it takes off excess dirt not usually taken off by regular face wash. :)

  19. I totally hated on the clarisonic until I spent a weekend at my mom's house and borrowed hers. I got a mia about 6 months ago, and it's definitely an essential in my beauty routine now. I have dry, sometimes flaky skin, and it really helps keep things smooth and exfoliated. look for deals especially around the holidays-- look for $25 off $100 purchases or similar. that's what I did :)

  20. I have the Mia and have been disappointed by it. I also have normal/dry skin and when I got it, I began using it daily. I don't know that I ever went through the "purge" period, but it did irritate may skin with daily use. I stopped using it for a bit and now, I use it 2 times a week. Honestly, I don't really notice that much of a difference (a good exfoliation is about the same). I use it b/c I have it, but don't know that I'd re-purchase. Hope this helps!! I know I debated for over a year before pulling the trigger :)

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. i'm sorry that yours hasn't worked for you. That's a lot of money for you to be unhappy.

  21. I'm PRO Clarisonic for sure! I've had my Mia for going on 4 years. Could even be 5 because I've lost count. They didn't have the Mia2 when I purchased mine. I LOVE it! Seriously worth every penny and if something happened to it, I'd run out and buy a new one. The main thing I love about it is exfoliation. I have combo skin but have had bouts of dry skin. It's great at getting off those pesky flakes from just dryness or using Retinol products. I use mine at night when I take off my makeup but sometimes use it twice per day depending what my skin needs are. It does help cleanse your skin better and therefore will clear out any clogged pores (not that you said you had any issues). I compare it to using a regular toothbrush to using an electric or Sonic toothbrush. Hands down your teeth feel cleaner with the sonic and so will your skin with the Clarisonic. It's just that simple. I seriously wonder about those that say they don't like it. They must be using it incorrectly is my guess. I just bought my Mom one for Mother's Day and she's loving hers. Hope this helps! xo Crystal

  22. I have one of the originals, had it for years and don't think it had a name. But, I love it! I use the "gentle" head and used to use it once every day. Now that I am older and using chemical exfoliants and retinol, I only use it on the days that I wear foundation (usually 2-3 times/wk) - really does the best job of getting it all off. I would encourage anyone to get a Clarisonic - it has been a great investment for my skin and has made a difference in my complexion. Good luck!

  23. I have the Clarisonic Mia and I love it! It honestly makes my skin feel so much cleaner and smoother. I'd recommend it, and also just getting the Mia because it's really all you need :)

  25. I'm so glad you ladies posted about this and I have the one bigger than the Mia only because I got it a few years ago and I haven't used it in a few weeks until today and I have to admit, I'm not sure if it makes my skin clearer but it does always make it feel softer and exfoliated but not too dry so I think it's worth the money. :)

  26. I own a Mia2 in pink and I can't imagine not having one. I just feel like it gets rid of all the gunk on my face after a long day and makes my skin more receptive to products afterwards. I have dry skin as well and if you use the right cleanser with it, your skin will be softer and less dry. I got mine during one of Skinstore.com's 20% off promos.

  28. Miss Crystal makeup said it best...this is life changing, and you need to own one. I've had the original Mia for about 3 or 4 years now and I would never be without. I have combination skin and I use it once nightly with my cleanser of choice, after removing all my makeup. I have recommended it to others who all love it too. Totally worth it, run don't walk!

  29. I am enjoying reading these responses. It seems like if you want the most 'bang for your buck' then going through Sephora seems like the best bet as they offer big add-ons to their boxed versions - I love the look of the Clarisonic Plus Sonic Cleansing Best Sellers Kit - the orange pattern is so cute! But the Radiance Revival Clarisonic® Plus With LancĂ´me Set seems pretty amazing too.
