Pantone Spring 2013: Nectarine & Poppy Red

Before we jump into today's post, we just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you. Today is our 2 year blogiversary!! We can't even believe that it's been 2 years already as time really does fly when you are having fun. A Weekend Craving: Southwest Turkey Chili

Spring has far from sprung in Virginia yet, much to our disliking. So what is one to do when handed a snowy Sunday afternoon?? Why one makes chili, of course. In fact, Jayme & I were both making this chili at our respective homes at the very same time. So while it looked a lot like this outside...

Inside we were getting warm by chowing down on this...

Ingredients:

1 tbsp vegetable oil

1 lb ground turkey

1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp dried oregano leaves, crushed

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, minced

1 3/4 cups Swanson chicken broth

1 cup Pace Chunky Salsa

1 tbsp sugar

1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained

1 can (16 oz) whole kernel corn, drained

Directions:

Heat the oil in a 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the turkey, onion, chili powder, cumin, oregano, black pepper and garlic powder. Cook until turkey is well browned, stirring often to separate meat.

Stir the broth, salsa, sugar, beans and corn in the saucepan and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 30 minutes or until the mixture is hot and bubbling.

Tip: Serve with tortilla chips and top with a little shredded cheese.

I have to thank my friend Aimee for sharing this recipe with me (I think it originally comes from Campbell's Kitchen). She recently made it for us and we knew this one was a keeper!

Jayme's Picks - Essie Mojito Madness & Essie As Gold As It Gets

 St. Patty's Day is right around the corner and I feel like I've found 'me pot of gold' with my polish picks. I'd say Mojito Madness is a very light kelly green and makes me think that spring is on it's way. This polish is one of Essie's best formulations because one coat almost does it. And adding the gold top coat (a total 'rediscovered' since I had forgotten about this one) makes me think of leprechauns and their hidden pots of gold. Now if only I really could find that pot of gold! There would be mani's for everyone! :-)

As soon as I saw this polish in my February Birchbox, I immediately knew that this was going to be my March POTM pick. As you all know, the beautiful shade of emerald is having quite a good year so far, so who am I to deny my nails of this hot trend?!? Maybe it's the Irish blood that runs through my veins, but I am loving any and everything green at the moment. In the words of my favorite leprechaun, "it's magically delicious!"

Here in VA, we are chomping at the bit for some spring-like weather! We want to say bye to the cold and welcome in the warmer temps and colorful spring flowers. We crave pretty pastel and bright colors on our nails and in our wardrobes. But we also crave them on our eyes...well, sometimes.
