Back to the post about grilling... It's been an outrageously hot summer here. We typically grill three to four nights a week, but with our fair share of triple digit temps this summer, the grill hasn't been getting much action. I honed my grilling skills, if you want to call them that, over the past few years. My hubz has normally taken on the grillmaster role, but with a giant yard to maintain, he can be found most weeknights on the lawnmower or with a weedeater in hand. So that leaves dinner planning & preparing to me. And that's when I discovered my love for the grill. Did y'all know that entire meals can be made on that thing?!? Take this random night for example: I grilled a couple chicken breasts, two ears of corn & some asparagus. It started in the kitchen, of course, with a little bit of this...

Once I took things outside to the grill, it turned into this...

I don't exactly follow a "recipe" here. You can see my arsenal of ingredients in the pics above. I just slap on a little of this & a little of that & call it a day. Easy peasy. By the time the hubz wraps up his yardwork, I have dinner on the table. And it didn't even make a mess of my kitchen. Gotta love that!
What are your favorite things to whip up on the grill?? What do you call "grilling"? BBQing?? Cooking out?? Just plain ol grilling?? We'd love to hear!

ReplyDeleteHehe, I might become close-to-great cook because of you two ;) Wonderful, judging by photos, all looks too delicious. Grilling or BBQing are words I usually use. And at BBQ I love to eat corn, but mostly meat (I prefer chicken).

We have started peeling our corn, spreading it with Olive Oil and then grilling it-no husks. Once it's done I mixed together fresh finely chopped cilantro, butter and a little fresh squeezed lime juice. Slather that on the corn & enjoy! Love these posts :)
ReplyDeleteI love grilled asparagus!

seriously loving that you grill! i usually leave that up to my husband. anything that deals with fire usually goes to him. he loves to use his smoker and does pork and brisket a lot! i usually stick to the oven or a big stock pot!
