Jayme's May Photos: Days 17-31

You guys recently got to see Mendi's May Photos (see post here if you missed it) and now it's my turn. I love having the second half of the month for some reason and I had a lot of fun snapping photos and playing with Instagram. In fact, Mendi and I enjoyed it so much that we are going to be participating in June's Photo A Day too. But let me not get ahead of myself...on to days 17-31...

day 17 -- snack
Been on the healthy train lately!

day 18 - something you made
I got this idea from Young House Love a few years ago. I only have three so far but I love filling my little glass jars with memories of vacations starting with our trip to Mexico when we got married. We have one for NYC and another for Vegas and can't wait to fill more by the end of this year.

day 19 -- favourite place
Oh our leather couch...it's so comfy and it looks like it's calling my name!

day 20 -- something you can't live without
My best friend...my husband Wes

day 21 -- where you stand
This photo task stumped me at first but then I thought of this t-shirt.  As most of you know I have a Pit (Jade) and fully support Pit Bulls. It's a shame that ignorant owners have given this breed such a bad name.

day 22 -- pink
Tarte blush in Dollface - a new fave!

day 23 -- something new
Straw fedora from Target for my upcoming trip to the Dominican...CAN'T WAIT!!

 day 24 -- technology
Just love Apple (please forgive the grubby finger prints)

 day 25 -- unusual
Nowadays fast food and diet coke are UNUSUAL in my everyday routine. It's been HARD but I'm working on being healthier but you still have to have "fun" days.

day 26 -- 12 o'clock
Is it bad that I was in bed watching a movie and thought about my photo this day but was too lazy to get up and snap a pic at 12 midnight? Probably!

day 27 -- sweet

Peanut butter...the occasional sweet treat.

day 28 --  weather
This day was overcast and HUMID! Just another "schweddy" day in RVA!

day 29 -- number
This is my Stella & Dot Third Time's A Charm necklace that I adore! Not only is the 3 rose gold but I got married on October 3rd so the number 3 is special to me (and the reason I bought this necklace).

day 30 -- your personality
Don't know why I thought of this candle holder when the direction was to snap a picture of my personality. I think it fits!

day 31 -- something beautiful
Just some plants in my yellow planter on my front stoop. They make me happy! (And I'm proud that we are remembering to water them so they stay alive!)

Did you participate in Fat Mum Slim's May Photo-a-Day?? Or do you get down with some other Instagram link-up party?? Pretty, pretty please let us know if you are, because we want to snoop through your pictures too. Hope you enjoyed our May Photos and stay tuned for June!

Secret Blogger Swap

We had so much fun with the blogger swap that we participated in back in January (see that post here), that we jumped at the opportunity to join in on the fun in another one when our friend Danielle at Framed Frosting approached us with the subject. We elected to swap with someone either in the US, or internationally, within an under $30 price range. The way that this swap works is that you give to one person and receive from another, hence the 100% secret part. Danielle worked her magic with the pairings and several weeks ago we received the name of our secret blogger, and meanwhile someone received our names. We dutifully went to work studying our secret blogger's every word, watched her videos intently (yes, she's a YouTuber too...how perfect!) and got to know what makes this girl tick...all while being highly undercover. The anticipation of sharing the details and finding out who received our names has been killing us! Well, the link-up to reveal your secret blogger and the goodies you received is finally today! So first, here's a peek at what we received...

Over the holiday weekend, we were excited when this box arrived. Inside we found that Melissa from Sigh...Gush...Gasp had taken the time to really get to know us and she nailed some of our favorite things! Starbucks? Check. Nail polish? Check. Jewelry? Check. And what girl doesn't love chocolate???

The package looked so pretty when we opened it. We snapped a quick picture before we dug in!

Look at this handmade card by Melissa! It was so incredibly personal and sweet. You can obviously tell that this girl has mad scrapbooking skills.

We're super excited about these nail polishes! The colors are gorgeous and so perfect for summer, plus it's a brand that we've never tried. From left to right are Lilac, Papaya and Mint.

Hello chocolate!! These taste just like a peppermint patty. Mmmm!

Love these earrings and cuff bracelet from Smart Set...a new Canadian brand to us!

Melissa also included a Starbucks gift card for each of us and a reusable tote from Smart Set.

Melissa, thank you SO much! We look forward to getting to know you better. We love your outfit posts and any sightings of your precious Adele!!

We encourage you guys to check out her blog and show her some love from HLNC!

Now on to the giving part of this swap... For the past several weeks we've taken advantage of every opportunity to get to know our secret blogger assignment as well as possible...covertly, of course. We're thrilled that we can now finally talk about her! From across the pond, we'd like to introduce you guys to Charlotte from Lil Miss Chickas. We just adore this girl!! To see what we sent to Charlotte, click here. While you're there, drop Charlotte a comment and follow her blog.

The main thing that we love about blogging is the wonderful sense of community and support that we all give to each other. We're so excited to have had the opportunity to find these two bloggers and we look forward to following them on their blogging journeys. A huge thank you goes out to Danielle for coordinating and hosting this swap! To see more link-ups of the swap fest, be sure to visit Danielle's blog.

Paint & Polish Volume II

About two weeks ago Wes and I (along with our friends Heather and Scottie) went to the Super Chevy Car Show at the Virginia Motorsports Park. Almost a year ago we went to a car show where I got the brilliant idea of passing time by comparing paint jobs to nail polish (see post here). It was so much fun for me that I did it again and the paint colors (and cars) did not disappoint.

Let's get to it...

This mint colored Bel-Air Wagon was one of my favorite paint jobs of the day. I saw mint green and was thinking "does that owner have any idea how hot that color is right now??" Immediately I thought of Essie's Mint Candy Apple. It's a favorite polish among Essie lovers and if I owned that car I would totally match my nails to my car and not even care!

OPI's Into the Night from The Spiderman collection is a great match up for this blue 1955 Bel-Air. Mendi and I recently won a giveaway of The Spiderman mini's (from Michelle at My Simple Life - thanks again!!) and this blue one was included. Can't wait to try it out so my nails can look as hot as the blue paint on this baby.

OPI Spiderman Collection - Into the Night

A few of our friends got the Color Club Disco Nap nail polish in their May Birchbox so when I saw this Malibu in all of its metallic gold glory I instantly thought of this polish. I love metallics and I love gold so this is a match made in heaven.

Did someone say HOT ORANGE?? This color has been a fave here on HLNC so much that we even dedicated a Friday's Fancies post solely to crushing on HOT ORANGE (you can see that post here). Essie's Orange, It's Obvious is a perfect match for this Camaro. A second runner up for this polish could also be Essie's Ole Caliente.

orange, it's obvious

When I caught a glimpse of this interior I was thinking "Oh no he didn't!". That is surely a match for the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Check it Out. Houndstooth on your nails and on your car seats...say what? I loved these seats and kind of wanted to just hang out inside the car but I don't think the owner would have appreciated that.

This '69 Chevelle just screamed China Glaze Argo from The Hunger Games Collection. It was shimmery, but not too sparkly and so so pretty. This is a polish that Mendi nor I have in our collection but after seeing this car I think we might "need" it. That is...if we can find it!

With neons being all the rage right now I had to snap a pic of this Chevy II Nova in all of its lime green glory. I was thinking of a polish that I almost bought at Target not too long ago, the Sally Hansen Just in Lime, but I can't find an image of that anywhere. So I pulled another one that  I saw at Ulta recently called Piggy Polish in Envy. Looks like a really fun color for summer. We've never tried this brand, have any of you guys?

This Bel-Air made me happy with it's bright blue paint. I couldn't come up with an exact polish on the spot but after looking around I found Orly's Frisky. Perfect match for this sweet ride. There's no shimmer in the paint or in the polish...just a nice shiny creme. Check out the dice (or die as I'm assuming there are two of them). Every old car like this needs them!

Now this one might be a bit of a stretch but I was inspired. This Bel-Air had one of the coolest paint jobs there and I really wanted to showcase it but wasn't sure how. Then I thought of all of those magnetic polishes like the nails inc. Wave Magnetic polish in Trafalgar Square. the magnet helps to create designs on your nails kind of like how there are designs in this paint. To see what I'm gabbing about just check out Addicted to OPI's post about this polish here.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this second installment of Paint & Polish. It was really fun for me to put this together and it made my husband want to buy a muscle car and made me want to buy more nail polish. Wonder why?!! Oh and please forgive me if I have misidentified any of the cars.

Please drop me a comment and let me know what you think!

Friday's Fancies: Long Weekend Wardrobe

Ahhhhh...at last. We've made it. From New Year's to Memorial Day that is. Y'know, that long stretch where there are no free days off from work?!? This weekend, we want to leave our brains at the office and just coast on auto pilot. We've already mapped out the perfect weekend outfits uniform. The forecast for Richmond this weekend is calling for the low 90's, which means tank tops and shorts. We're specifically loving solid colored tanks and patterned shorts right now. To finish it off, keep it simple with a little bling and some cute flat sandals. To all of our US friends, Happy Memorial Day weekend...enjoy!!
