Since we have fairly normal skin, we exfoliate once or twice a week. If you have sensitive skin then we'd say only exfoliate once per week or contact your dermatologist to find out how often is appropriate for your skin type. Those with oilier skin may be able to exfoliate on a more daily basis, but we'd recommend checking in with your derm.
The key is to find a facial scrub that is not too abrasive and then follow the directions. We use ours while in the shower, after the warm water has been on for a bit. We take a little and gently massage it onto our face in a circular motion, let it stay on for a minute or so and then rinse. Follow up with your go to skincare products.

Mendi's Current Facial Exfoliant - Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream
via |
You know us, we are always ready to try new products and actually Mendi has been using a sample size of the Clinique 7 Day, so she will soon want to branch out and test a new scrub. We've heard great reviews about the Origins Modern Friction (and you know that we love Origins products) so maybe it will be next on the list.

I keep a mini tupperware container in my bathroom with brown sugar in it, whenever I go to exfoliate my face I just spoon a bit into my hand and add whatever cleanser I am using at the time. It's gently and gets the job done, plus the sugar moisturizes while I scrub so my face doesn't have that tight itchy feeling when I'm done.
ReplyDeleteI have actually been looking for a new face exfoliator. Someone else recommended the Clinique one as well, so I may give that a try!

I use that same exfoliator from Clinique. Clinique is one of the only skincare product lines that work for me because I have sensitive skin.

Great rec's! My current faves are St. Ives gentle apricot scrub and Queen Helene oatmeal n' honey scrub. =)
ReplyDeleteI've been using Bioelements Pumice Peel. It seriously takes a layer off your face. Probably best for those of us of a certain age. hee hee.

i use this amazing exfoliator. i used to use an Origins one but then i found a Korean brand that actually peels your skin. you rub it on and you can literally see the dead skin flake off. i know it sounds kinda disgusting but it's amazing because you can actually see it working. and my skin feels amazing afterwards!!!

I just use organic soap nowadays! But I used to love using Clinique!!

I need to try a new scrub ASAP -- my skin is starting to flake, I swear! I want to give the Neutrogena grapefruit one a shot; I use the body wash and love it.

I love this post as I've actually only just started to use an exfoliant in my beauty regime! I am a big cleanser/moisterisor but now am an exfoliant'er (new word? haha) as well. I have actually found my skin to feel and look that little bit better which I love. I went straight for the natural one (oddly enough as I am a big clairns girl normally) but swear by the one I'm using, its Aveena - very natural! Thanks for sharing ladies, I'm a follower now :)

@ Shop N' Chomp ~ St Ives Apricot scrub is always a great backup!
ReplyDelete@ The Suburb Experiment ~ Where do you find that? We've not heard of it before.
@ Claire ~ Wow! That sounds amazing. :)
@ Alicia ~ Thanks for coming over & following us back! St Ives is a popular pick!
@ Wida ~ Thanks for dropping us a comment. Is there a specific organic soap that you prefer?
@ Josie ~ Neutrogena makes great products. We love their Sugar Scrub for the body.
ReplyDelete@ Joanne ~ Thanks for leaving us a comment. You're right, you definitely want to exfoliate only as often as your skin requires. Everyone is different!
@ Anna ~ Thank you so much for following! We'll have to check out the Aveeno exfoliator. We swear by their body lotion in the winter when our skin is super dry.
@ Ivana ~ Happy Monday to you too, girl! Thank you so much for leaving us a comment.
I've never found a scrub I'm crazy about. I really like to feel it working, so anything with "gentle" in the name is usually out for me. I had a Neutrogena one I liked, but I can't remember what it was... so the search continues!
